Ambassador Animal Hospital first opened its doors in 1961. It was then owned by Dr. Robert Edwards and was located on Forest Drive near Richland Mall. As the practice grew, Dr. Edwards decided to build a new hospital in 1974- the Ambassador Animal Hospital that you bring your pets to now. In 2001, Dr. Edwards decided it was time to retire, giving Drs. Joe and Erin Trimmier the opportunity to buy the hospital.
Erin and Joe met while growing up in the upstate of South Carolina. Joe completed his undergraduate studies at Clemson University and attended the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Erin completed her undergraduate courses at the University of Georgia and went on to the College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Joe graduated in 1997 and, after Dr. Erin graduated two years later, they moved to Columbia to live and work until they bought Ambassador Animal Hospital from Dr. Edwards.
The Drs. Trimmier stay busy taking care of patients and raising two sons, Owen and Adam. On the weekends they enjoy spending time outdoors and playing with their dogs, cats and kids.
