Physical Exams & Labwork

photo of examYoung, healthy pets should receive complete physical examinations at least once per year.  Senior pets or pets with chronic medical conditions should receive complete physical examinations at least every six months.  Dogs and cats age faster than
humans which necessitates the frequency of the exams.  Physical exams provide an evaluation of all major body systems and include medical, dental, and nutritional recommendations.  Any pet with an ailment or injury should be seen for an
examination at the time of the problem.

In addition to complete and rapid results from an outside laboratory, we also offer
in-house bloodwork which can give us results almost immediately.  Our new in-house laboratory equipment offers complete blood cell counts, complete biochemistry,
organ, and electrolyte panels, as well as clotting profiles.  We can also perform
complete urinalysis as well as many disease and parasite tests in house.  These tests
are most important for emergencies and should also always be done before anesthetic events to help with the safety of anesthesia.
