We are excited to offer a revolutionary new laser therapy treatment for pain, arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions (like skin, ear, and bladder problems among other things). We are also using it with our surgery patients to reduce pain and speed up the healing process. Laser therapy works by increasing the energy available to cells so that the cells can take in nutrients quicker and get rid of waste products faster. This helps the cells repair themselves and reduces inflammation. Laser therapy also blocks pain transmitted by nerve cells and decreases the nerve sensitivity. We are excited to be one of the few animal hospitals in the area to offer this beneficial service to our patients.
We started our 17 year-old dog, Spur, on the arthritis protocol and have noticed already that he is moving around more and dragging his toes less. We have also witnessed other arthritic patients who are happily going for walks again and were able to start using the stairs again. The therapy is done with the patient awake and it is non-painful. The laser therapy can also be very helpful for older cats since there are no approved NSAID drugs for cats to help relieve arthritis pain. We have also had great success getting wounds to heal with the use of the laser. If you have questions about how the laser can benefit your pet or would like to schedule an appointment, please let us know. To view a video about this new laser therapy, click on the logo above.
