acupuncture

Acupuncture has been practiced in China for over 3,000 years and is growing in popularity here in the United States. This is due to its efficacy, especially when other treatments do not work, or are not ideal for a patient. This modality can be used in conjunction with other medications/treatments or by itself. Acupuncture is a gentle way to ask the body to do something, which rarely results in any side effects.

In recent years, numerous studies have been performed to better understand how acupuncture works. While there is still a lot to learn, studies have shown acupunture works in multiple ways, including: stimulating nerves, increasing circulation, and releasing endorphins that help control pain.

It can be used to treat a multitude of symptoms and diseases, including:
- pain management (especially due to back problems or arthritis)
- chronic gastrointestinal problems (vomiting and/or diarrhea)
- chronic skin problems
- seizures (when refractory to medication)
- asthma/chronic respiratory problems
- and to promote quality of life with other chronic or terminal condition.

Patient/Client responses:

"When I first adopted Diamond, she was underweight, skittish and had problems getting up or down off of anything. Diamond is a 3 year old female spayed Great Dane, with severe rear leg deformity that was to be euthanized due to her health and growth issues. Upon adopting her I had known she had deformed rear legs, apparently from her father having a growth disorder. After adopting her I also noticed she had severe anxiety. Her anxiety varied from separation issues to overall “skittishness”. So, we started Acupuncture and had almost immediate results! Her eating habits picked up, her anxiety levels went down and she seemed to have little to no problems with her deformed legs. She now jumps in and out of my van, jumps on my bed to sleep with me at night, swims in the river and can go on fairly long walks. She is also a very happy dog acting almost “puppish”, running, playing and interacting with other dogs frequently. I have seen amazing results for Diamond with her getting Acupuncture every 3-4 weeks. "

"At one of Hootie's physicals, I mentioned my dog had a hard time getting off of the floor, and her back legs would give out when we went for a walk. She even had a lot of urinary accidents. Dr. Daniel suggested acupuncture. To be honest I was hesitant. So, I gave it a try. Well, to my amazement after the second treatment, she was a little better. Even her urinary incontinence was less and less after each treatment. See with all of her health problems, Hootie can't take high powered medications. So this alternative works for her. Do I recommend this? Yes I do. She gave Hootie a better quality of life! Try it. Your pet is worth it. Dr. daniel is the best- she is sincere, devoted, and compassionate. Best thing I did was coming to Ambassador Animal Hospital."
